Primary Responsibilities: To assist with aspects of operations to provide for the continued enhancement of programs and services provided by Greenville County First Steps. Specifically, to provide quality, intensive technical assistance to child care providers as requested, to develop, enhance, and expand school partnerships and collaborations, and to assist with resource and volunteer development for the expansion of First Steps programs/services.

General breakdown of responsibilities


30%- Provide Technical Assistance to Child Care providers.
• Work with center director and staff to develop/promote/achieve measurable goals as part of an established quality improvement plan.
• Work with First Steps director and other Child Care oriented community organizations to ensure quality standards are set throughout the county.
• Provide Pre- and Post- assessments for centers as needed
• Promote Best Practices. Meets the needs of both internal clients and the community as a whole, by delivering high-quality services based on established best practices; commits to continuous improvement by constantly monitoring and upgrading quality standards.

30%- School Partnerships
• Serve as liaison between First Steps and school partners providing “Countdown to Kindergarten” curriculum.
• Monitor and manage budgets and contracts associated with “Countdown”
• Work with school partners to develop new strategies for school readiness
• Work with teachers/principals/community to target unmet needs in community.
• Effectively communicate with directors, board, community all new policies or procedures
• Ensure all policies, procedures and requirements are adhered to at all times
• Regularly meet with Executive Director to evaluate and enhance the organization
• Conduct periodic needs assessment, seeking input from teachers, board members, parents, and the community to determine ongoing needs of students and families.
• Develop/ implement/ assess required reporting mechanisms and evaluation tools as required by grantors, state First Steps office and local board that illustrates the success of the programs, to be used in attracting additional funding.

15%- Financial Development
• Create, monitor, and manage budgets as they relate to assigned programs and service areas. Responsible for maintaining expenditures within the budget.
• Work with board, staff, to develop and implement fiscal plan, including grant writing, soliciting donations, sponsorships, and revenue streams.
• Prepare monthly program report with budgeted expenditures to present at board meetings.

25%- Board/Volunteer/Community resource development
• Recruit, train, and lead group of volunteers from GCFS board and community to serve on School Partnership Advisory Board. Board will consist of current board members, community leaders, parents, educators, and other members of community. Ensuring that the Advisory Board meets regularly to be certain that identified needs of the community are met.
• Develop and implement community events throughout the year that meet the needs of the schools and community.
• Identify other funding streams to enhance the existing resources.
• Identify and recruit people and organizations willing to offer programs and services for students and families at the school or to assist in operations.
• Work with advisory committee to develop relationships with other non-profits, schools, churches and community agencies to explore best practices throughout community
• Serve as a community advocate: educate, inform and lead community in areas of child development as they relate to assigned priority areas
• Actively pursue and develop relationships within the community that help provide support and leadership for the local First Steps office

Job Requirements:


• BA/BS in Education, Early Child Development, Recreation/Leisure services, or relevant work experience
• Experience in 3K/4K environment
• Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
• Strong project management skills
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals across a broad range of groups
• Must demonstrate an ability to work independently, initiate projects, and develop and implement an array of social-educational activities.
• Budget development experience, planning and organizational abilities
• Strong community building and leadership in resource development
• High skill level in organizing, planning, problem solving and implementation of administrative procedures
• Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating and motivating staff and volunteers, as well as developing an effective staff team
• Professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with the public, staff and volunteers
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
• Access to reliable transportation
• Working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Publisher)
