Salary Range:  $23,000 – $27,000 

Position purpose:  Is responsible for the operation of the Extended Day program for children ages 2-5 including implementation of the ABC child care voucher program, curriculum, field trips, special events, nutrition.  Other responsibilities  include assisting with program management and staff supervision in the Early Childhood Department.

Qualifications:  Must meet all requirements set forth by Medicaid and DSS.  Minimum of a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood or related field.  Three years experience with direct service to children and or families. Proficiency in Microsoft word;  Good verbal and written communication skills;  Possess a CLD license or valid driver’s license and CDL obtained during employment probation period.  Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Work Requirements:  Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting children or heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing biological conditions which may be unhealthful or hazardous (such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, childhood diseases). Must pass fingerprint clearance test for all appropriate agencies (such as FBI, SLED, and Child Abuse Central Registry).

Director of Child Care Operations & Development - YWCA

Position Title:  Director of Childcare Operations & Development

Overview of Position: The Director of Childcare Operations & Development is a leadership position within the YWCA. The Director is responsible for the management, planning, development, and operations of the Child Development Center. The Director will hire, manage, and train teachers and administrative personnel within the CDC. The Director reports directly to the Executive Director and will work along with the ED to ensure strategic guidelines and the overall mission of the YWCA are carried forth.  The Director will work closely with the CDC Committee Chairperson, Parents Association, and volunteers to ensure consistency and alignment of the Child Development Center. The Director will provide supervision to the assistant director, full-time & part-time teachers as well as substitute teachers.  

Purpose of Position: To provide leadership for the Child Development Center and serve as a member of the YWCA management team. To ensure delivery of a quality program that advances the mission of the YWCA and Child Development Center; plan strategically for risk assessment and policy implementation; To establish and maintain an effective system of communication with staff members and clients; To maintain and monitor NAEYC standards and regulations. Create and maintain appropriate and meaningful means of communication between parents, prospective clients, community partners, and staff in various forms (daily dialogue, conferences, newsletters, reports, surveys, etc.)

Must be familiar with developmentally appropriate practices, understand policies relevant to the operation of an Early Childhood Education center, and must know how to supervise an Early Childhood Program. Must have the ability to exercise judgment and discretion, to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to interpret laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and to communicate effectively with children, parents, Early Childhood Development students and Childhood Development Center staff; expected to meet the standards of an exemplary Center. ITERS/ECERS rating scales knowledge a plus.

Back to Sleep Campaign Volunteer

We are in need of a volunteer to coordinate the “Back to Sleep” Campaign.  Placing babies on their backs to sleep reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), also known as "crib death." This campaign has been successful in promoting infant back sleeping to parents, family members, child care providers, health professionals, and all other caregivers of infants.

Early Learning Standards Resource Library Volunteer

We are in need of a volunteer to coordinate the Early Learning Standards Resource Library.  The early learning standards resource library will use the South Carolina Early Learning Standards as a model for the development of the library.  The library will support the school readiness of young children through books, resources, videos, research, and hands-on early childhood education materials.   The primary role of the volunteer will be to plan and conduct educational activities in the community utilizing materials from the Early Learning Standards Resource Library.
